Alfredo “Freddie” De los Santos is a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic...He arrived to the United States in 1986...Worked at NYU as a graphic designer...After the 9/11 attack, he joined the Army...On October 20, 2009 while serving in Helmand Providence in Afghanistan, he was wounded in action when the vehicle in which he was riding in was hit by rocket fire...As a consequence of the injury, he lost his right leg above the knee...Took up handcycling as part of his rehabilitation...Has a true passion for art, whether the medium is graphic design or abstract painting...He paints abstract art to illustrate the psychological experiences he faced in combat...He is an active duty member of the United States Army...Married to Jeanette De Los Santos.
